“that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;”
Romans 10:9 NASB
Why am I suffering...this is awful.....
I think that is an appropriate question for anyone, even a Christian. I mean, in the middle of my pain, I wonder, why am I feeling this way. In the middle of stress, anxiety, and the rest, what is the purpose. We have all been, or we even may be in it, there.
Many times I have heard “God is on the throne.” And I believe it, but sometimes that doesn’t really translate to how I feel. Being a Christian requires us to be passionate towards our mission, but at the same time, we often must drop our emotion and focus on what we know, what God has told us. Not easy. Our emotion can betray us, and the enemy can grasp on to that and drive us into despair.
How do we know God is on the throne? If you can remember back to a very special, and powerful story, the one where Jesus went to the Cross. From prophecy, we know that Jesus was destined to be crucified. The events that led up to that moment, were necessary. Jesus had come down to demonstrate that God is in control, by the fact that Jesus went through what He went through. He allowed this. He allowed Jesus to go through what He went through, and at the same time, Jesus trusted His Father that what He was doing, was necessary. There was a purpose. It led to our salvation.
When you think about the events of that short time, Jesus endured a lot. I doubt I would have survived the scouraging. I read a devotional that actually surmised that Jesus was supernaturally kept alive so He would make it through to the end. God was in control to the point where He made sure that Jesus was able to survive what some may not have. He had to, because His mission was to die on that cross so you and I could avoid the wrath we ultimately should have endured.
The point though is that when we suffer, we often wonder why and when will it end. I submit that suffering is awful. In fact, I really am not a fan of suffering. But, often, in hindsight, I see a sharpening of my walk. I see a God driven maturity in where He is taking me. Most importantly, without suffering, it is impossible to connect with those that are! We have all met the person that thinks they can connect with you, on something deeply personal, that they have zero experiencing with, and tell you how to handle it.
Jesus suffered. He experienced pain, suffering, and even temptation. He walked the walked so we could know He understood what we were going through. Most importantly, He has set a place for us. He promises it. When we are going through the suffering, we must look to the Father to give us the strength to get through it. He is in control, and as He promises, He will be there with us as we walk through this fallen world.
That, my brothers and sisters, is worth sharing with those around us. Connect with people. Grow in your faith. Serve each other. We will be saved...because He has promised it.

Peace be with you.
