The story of Jesus healing the paralyzed man, and forgiving His sin, is an awesome display of His power and love for all people.
Generally speaking, we cannot heal a paralyzed individual. There are a variety of reasons people believe we cannot, but I think the demonstration of His power goes far beyond the physical acts of being paralyzed.
We only need to turn the tv on, read through social media, or just listen to the world around us. Rich, poor, famous, private, and on, are paralyzed by this world. They seek a freedom in many ways, never finding it though. They chase money, success, adrenaline, drugs, and other vices to fill a void not meant to be filled by this world.
Like Jesus healing the paralyzed man, or offering Living Water to the woman at the well, He offers freedom from this fallen world.
While we may not be able to heal a person physically, our role is to share that freedom in Christ. It can break the chains of this world, allowing a person to have the freedom that nothing in this world can match.
Share that freedom with somebody this week. You may find them picking themselves off their wobbly legs and finding that freedom in Jesus Christ.
