As I was sitting on a conference call today, I was thinking about Scripture, thinking about how it would have been had a human wrote it with human motives. Jesus, had the ability to live as a king, for at least a short period. Instead, He demonstrated living as a servant. He went to the cross, rose again, talked more about who the Father was and then ascended. Had this been something I wrote, I would have made Jesus rise from the dead and gather a large following and gain riches and fame. It’s counterintuitive to human nature, separating stories of gods from God.
The Apostles could have also rode the wave by demanding those that followed Jesus bow down before them and support them. They could have lived large, yet we see a continuing theme of being servants and delivering a message of Hope and Love.
In fact, as a Christian, there is virtually nothing to gain in being one from a world perspective. Yet, for well over 2,000 years, we witness account after account of people willing to give it all to follow Jesus. Nothing else in the history of the world has garnered such timeless movement...and nothing will.
It is an eternal love, stopped by nothing.
