Frustrated much?
We live in two worlds. The fallen world, where sin has destroyed the perfect life. We also live in His Kingdom. Having part of us in one world and the other part of us in the other, it can cause frustration!
In His Kingdom, when Jesus brings an end to the world as we know it and we find ourselves living a life full of joy, it will be wonderful! In many aspects of the ministries I’ve participated in, we find many kingdom related goals in that are following His commandments. To serve others, to serve each other, to love all. They sound noble, even a command from Jesus “Love your neighbor.”, but we are often fumbled by the sinful world we still live in. Where we want to serve, we can’t find enough people to help. Where we want to provide a great program for our children/youth, it is stymied by circumstances. So we get frustrated.
We’ve all been there. You pour your heart into it, but it ends up like a pile of wood you tried so hard to arrange for the campfire...that just ends up with a lot of smoke. That’s the reality of two worlds. Our selfish nature, or other’s selfish nature, can quickly pull a Godly cause off the rails. I’ve seen it and I’m sure you’ve seen it too.
But it is how we react that separates us. Jesus didn’t want to pull us out of the world, but for the Father to care for us through whatever we faced. He prayed that for us! (Thanks Rob for that yesterday). Look at Paul, despite his circumstances, he remained focused on the finish line, not the path itself.
We can react with frustration, anger, or fold in. I urge you though (as I urge myself), to follow a different path. Pray for peace in those moments. Instead of reacting how the world reacts, react how Jesus would have reacted. React how Paul reacts. Show the world that there is something different about a Christian!
Are there frustrated Christians? Yep, absolutely. But a frustrated Christian can still be a light for the world...love your God and love they neighbor....even when your neighbor is frustrating you!!!
Peace to you this week!
